Christian Schäfer has been heading the newly established Payments Department at German Savings Banks Association (DSGV) since February, 2024. Christian Schäfer joins from the European Central Bank, where he worked in the Directorate General Market Infrastructure and Payments and was responsible, as Chair of the Digital Euro Scheme Rulebook Development Group, for developing a payment scheme for the digital euro.Prior to that, Christian Schäfer held various global and regional roles as a product manager in the corporate bank at Deutsche Bank AG in Frankfurt and London.
